The United Way of Indiana County invites the community to come together for its 2026 Compassion in Action Campaign Kickoff on Thursday, August 27, at the Indiana County Conservation District and Challenger Learning Center. The family-friendly celebration will officially launch this year's campaign while showcasing the power of collaboration, community, and a shared vision for a brighter future.

Guests will enjoy a BBQ buffet from Fedder’s Grill and 9th Street Deli, refreshments from Noble Stein Brewing Company, Disobedient Spirits, and Raising Cane’s, desserts from Colton’s Cookies, The Baker’s Arm, and The Honey Badger’s Baked Goods, interactive activities, basket raffles, and more. The event brings together individuals, families, local businesses, volunteers, nonprofit partners, and community leaders as United Way begins another year of making lasting impact.

This year's theme, Compassion in Action, celebrates the idea that meaningful change happens when people unite around a common purpose.

"For me, this campaign is a call to action, an invitation for every one of us to reach beyond ourselves so our entire community can rise together," said Josh Muscatello, Campaign Co-Chair.

One of the highlights of this year's kickoff is the partnership with the Indiana County Conservation District and the Challenger Learning Center, creating an evening that blends community, education, and inspiration.

"I am beyond excited to partner with the Indiana County Conservation District and the Challenger Learning Center for our kickoff. They're both wonderful symbols of our campaign, with ICCD representing where and who we are, and the Challenger Learning Center representing what we aspire to. What better place to gather the community for fun while also engaging them in a way that will be wonderfully informative and aspirational," said Zach Hilliard, Campaign Co-Chair.

Attendees will have the opportunity to experience hands-on STEM activities provided by the Challenger Learning Center, offering a preview of the exciting educational opportunities the center will bring to the region when it opens.

"The Challenger Learning Center is dedicated to inspiring curiosity, fostering innovation, and strengthening our community through meaningful partnerships. We are proud to partner with United Way for its annual kickoff event, offering interactive STEM experiences that engage attendees while celebrating the excitement surrounding the Challenger Learning Center's anticipated opening in early 2027," said Ron Bush, CEO of the Challenger Learning Center of Colorado Springs.

The United Way of Indiana County's annual campaign raises critical funds for our community, supporting programs and services that strengthen the health, education, and financial stability of individuals and families across Indiana County. Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations, businesses, volunteers, and donors, the organization continues to mobilize the caring power of the community to create lasting change.
